PRESS RELEASE
Chicopee Municipal COVID-19 Test Site – Closed for the summer
(Released June 27, 2021)
CHICOPEE, MA - Starting Tuesday, June 29th, 2021, the Chicopee Municipal COVID-19 Test Site at the RiverMills Senior Center will be closed for the summer. As more residents receive their COVID-19 vaccinations, testing for the virus has plummeted. The test site was originally opened for Chicopee Residents, Chicopee Municipal Employees, and Regional First Responders but as the need for testing became less necessary, the decision was made open to any who required testing. "This is a good thing," Mayor Vieau said. "We want to see the need for Covid-19 testing become unnecessary and our volunteers from other City Departments can resume their regular daily activities."
The Mayor's Office, Chicopee Health Department, and the Chicopee Covid Task Force will continue to review and report case numbers on the Chicopee COVID-19 Information page. If an increase in Covid-19 positive case numbers is found, the Chicopee Test Site will begin again.
If you require a test or for more information on other test sites and their availability, please visit the Find A Covid-19 Test page on the Mass.gov website at https://www.mass.gov/info-details/find-a-covid-19-test.
