Important Message From Mayor John Vieau:
As many already know the COVID-19 vaccines are rolling out in phases. Phase 1 which includes front liners, first responders and LTC facilities, home care workers, and nurses began in mid-December all through January.
With Phase 2 approaching on February 1st, the City’s Vaccine Task Force wants you to know that our most vulnerable populations starting with those of age 75 and above can begin signing up for their vaccine appointments as soon as tomorrow.
Because vaccine supply is limited, we ask you to be patient as it may take several weeks to get an appointment. Please know the City is committed to keeping you informed and doing everything we can to assist you.
To sign up for your appointment, you must go to the State website www.Mass.gov/vaccine and begin the process. If you need help registering, and a family member or friend is not an option, the RiverMills COA staff is also available to assist you. The phone number of the RiverMills COA is 594-3698. Vaccines are free, however, you will need your medical insurance information and you may be asked some basic medical history questions. Most importantly, you will need an email address to receive information about your appointments.
The Vaccine Task Force is here to get you the information you need to know, as more becomes eligible and vaccines become more available.
Yesterday, it was announced that the Eastfield Mall in Springfield will be a MASS Vaccination Site for Western MA. We anticipate that many more vaccine locations will be available by mid-February including select CVS, Walgreens, Stop and Shop, Big Y locations.
Remember, the current Vaccine requires two doses. We ask you to be patient as we do all we can to keep you informed and help everyone.
Lastly, if you are not feeling well, or have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus, and need a COVID test, Chicopee is providing FREE testing on-site every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 8 AM to Noon on the upper level of the RiverMills Senior Center at 5 W. Main Street. Let’s stop the spread and build immunity, one test, and vaccine at a time!
