[ARCHIVED] Willimansett Bridge Closure

PRESS RELEASE

NOTIFICATION OF WILLIMANSETT BRIDGE CLOSURE

CHICOPEE – On Tuesday, September 15th and Wednesday, September 16th, the Willimansett Bridge (Chicopee Street, Route 116) to Holyoke will be closed.  This closure is being done for railway work on Cabot Street in Holyoke, adjacent to the bridge.  Local businesses at the end of Chicopee Street, near the bridge, will remain open and accessible.  Emerson Street, Erline Street, and Prospect Street will remain accessible during the bridge closure.

Please adjust any travel plans accordingly to avoid delays.  Message display signs have been put in place on each side of the Willimansett Bridge, alerting travelers to the closure.  Detours will be set up to direct traffic around the construction area.

“We thank you for your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience,” stated Mayor John L. Vieau. “This is only a two-day shutdown, so the hope is that any inconvenience to travelers is minimal.”
