[ARCHIVED] Mayor Vieau Assembles Task Force to Develop A Restaurant Outdoor Seating Policy for Phase 2

PRESS RELEASE

Mayor Vieau  Assembled Task Force to Develop A Restaurant Outdoor Seating Policy for Phase 2

CHICOPEE — As restaurants in the City of Chicopee prepare for possible reopening on June 8th per Guidelines established by the Commonwealth, Mayor Vieau has assembled a Task Force of appropriate City Departments to develop an Outdoor Seating Policy and consolidated application process for those restaurants that wish to develop outdoor dining facilities.

The Task Force includes representation from the following City Departments:

  • Building;
  • Engineering;
  • Fire;
  • Health;
  • License Commission;
  • Planning & Development; and
  • Police.

The Task Force expects to release a final policy and application no later than Friday, June 5th to allow restaurants to review and prepare applications as soon as possible.

Understanding that many restaurants are looking to resume service as soon as practicable, the City requests that any establishments pause on creating any new outdoor dining areas until the policy is released and the application materials are available.
