CHICOPEE - On Friday, March 20, 2020, Chicopee Mayor John L. Vieau and the Chicopee Board of Health, and Director Lisa Sanders issued the following order:
Due to the inability to maintain the minimum social distancing of 6 feet, we are requiring all Chicopee Hair & Beauty salons, Esthetic salons (skincare), Spas, Nail Salons, Barbershops, Massage Therapy establishments, and Tattoo & Body Art establishments to suspend operations effective Monday, March 23, 2020, through Sunday, April 5, 2020, to be re-evaluated in two weeks and may be extended.
In addition, any other business that is unable to employ the necessary social distancing measures and remain operational shall suspend their operations for the remainder of the public health emergency.
All retail establishments must follow social distancing measures issued by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Massachusetts Department of Public Health and/or the social distancing policy guidelines. Furthermore, retail establishments are strongly encouraged to restrict all commercial activity to pick-up or delivery actions only.
Regardless of whether or not your establishment falls within the scope of this Order, EVERYONE is advised to maintain social distancing whenever possible, continue to wash hands for more than 20-seconds, use hand sanitizer, and exercise proper respiratory etiquette.
Enforcement will err on the side of public health precaution in order to avoid the congregation of over 25 people and assist in the reduced spread of COVID-19 within our community.
Questions can be forwarded to the Chicopee Health Department Director, Lisa Sanders at lsanders@chicopeema.gov.
