[ARCHIVED] Fairview Cemetery announces Spring Cleanup

PRESS RELEASE

Fairview Cemetery announces Spring Cleanup

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE – The Chicopee Parks and Recreation Department will begin spring cleanup of the Fairview Cemetery beginning the week of March 16th. The Fairview Cemetery Commission asks that any families wishing to retain any grave decorations please remove them by March 152020. Once the spring cleanup begins all remaining decorations will be removed and discarded by cemetery staff.

In an effort to improve the safety of employees and those visiting the cemetery, the Chicopee Cemetery Commission approved the revisions to the rules and regulations of Fairview Cemetery in January 2019. Artificial grave ornaments, artificial flowers, enclosures of any kind, and new plantings in the ground are not allowed as they are hazardous to both visitors and workers. Holiday pots and boxes will only be allowed during the Memorial Day and Holiday seasons.

For a complete list of Fairview Cemetery rules and regulations, fees and charges, and monument policies, please visit www.chicopeema.gov/384/Fairview-Cemetery or call the Parks and Recreation Office at 594-3481.
