This property was acquired by an eminent domain taking upon the approval of the City Council on December 2, 2014 which involved an appropriation of $140,000 for the acquisition.
Funding for the assessment and removal of hazardous material and asbestos is also approved and the remediation has begun.
It is expected that the work will continue through Thanksgiving with the anticipated date of the full demolition of the building by the end of this December.
The purpose of the acquisition was to make this property available for increased parking as it is contiguous with an existing public parking lot which was established years ago. The increased parking will be available for both municipal and business purposes in the area.
