[ARCHIVED] CHICOPEE HIRES THREE NEW SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS

PRESS RELEASE

CHICOPEE HIRES THREE NEW SPECIAL POLICE OFFICERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE – Mayor Richard Kos has announced the swearing-in of three Special Police Officers.

The three Special Police officers, Anthony Gibb, Sr., Jaymes Hoyt, and Hector Perez, Jr. will undergo the Special Police training program designed by Chief Jebb under the supervision of the Training Department Supervisor Lt. John Pronovost.

Under the program, Special officers will have a more active role in the Police Department and the community. In the past, Special Police were primarily used for work at polling locations and work on extra details. Now, Special Police candidates will have to pass a physical requirement test, as well as Reserve Police Officer training.

They will be used at our Police substations, as well as training with full-time Police officers. They will also be required to volunteer in the community every month. The program is designed so that Special Police officers work towards becoming full-time police officers. They will receive more updated training in law enforcement and more “on the job” training than in the past. They will also work with our full-time officers to better serve the community.
