PRESS RELEASE

Chicopee Resident's Efforts Help Raise Awareness of Male Breast Cancer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE - Thanks to the efforts of Chicopee resident Ron Chapdelaine, the third week in October (October 13-16th) has been proclaimed by Mayor Richard J. Kos as “Male Breast Cancer Awareness Week.” Chicopee Ward 8 City Councilor, Gary Labrie was on hand to help welcome breast cancer survivor Ron Chapdelaine and his brother and sister to help raise awareness of this public health issue.

“We can encourage men to take their health seriously, and urge screening from a medical professional by spreading awareness of male breast cancer,” Mayor Kos said. “Early detection can save lives.”

“We thank, Ron Chapdelaine for doing a tremendous public service by getting the word out about this particular cancer,” Counselor Labrie said.  “I urge people to learn more.”
