[ARCHIVED] CHICOPEE ENGINEERING PROJECT TO CORRECT PROPERTY ALIGNMENT CONFLICT

PRESS RELEASE

CHICOPEE ENGINEERING PROJECT TO CORRECT PROPERTY ALIGNMENT CONFLICT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE –Mayor Richard J. Kos requested an appropriation of funds on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the City Council meeting in the amount of $11,000.00 to the New Highway Special Account. City Council unanimously approved the request.

“There are areas in our city where the property line between homeowner and city ownership is blurred. Addressing these and others as they are discovered will eliminate boundary line confusion in the days to come,” said Mayor Richard J. Kos. “City Council has my gratitude for their support of this effort.”

Chicopee Engineering Department has proposed a small land taking project to correct alignment conflicts between property lines and the paved way. These are anomalies that the department has encountered during recent construction projects. The areas contained in this project include:

  • An area in the intersection at East Street and Beauchamp Terrace (Pic A)
  • An Area in the intersection of Valier Avenue and Schoolhouse Road (Pic B)
  • An area in the intersection of Nonotuck Avenue and Gilmore Street (Pic C)
  • An Area on Ludlow Road (Pic D)

Estimates for the survey and appraisal work are $11,000. This amount does not include the potential awards to the property owners.

“This effort will help resolve these property line anomalies that we encountered with recent projects.  I foresee this being something we come across as we continue to make improvements throughout the City,” stated Elizabette F. Botelho, P.E. the D.P.W Superintendent.
