[ARCHIVED] VIEW STREET TAVERN TO SUSPEND OPERATIONS UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW

PRESS RELEASE

VIEW STREET TAVERN TO SUSPEND OPERATIONS UNTIL FURTHER REVIEW

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE – Mayor Richard J. Kos announced the owners of the View Street Tavern, located at 92 View Street, Chicopee, have agreed to cease-and-desist operations during the investigation of neighboring residents’ complaints of noise and the behavior of customers. Attorney Dave Berson, representing the establishment, confirmed the restaurant's licenses, including its alcohol and entertainment licenses, were voluntarily surrendered this week.

Originally scheduled for a violation hearing before the board of license commission, the hearing has been postponed until September 26, 2019, for 6 PM at the RiverMills Senior Center - lower level, 9 West Main Street, Chicopee. On that date, additional-new violations against the licensee of the View Street Tavern will be heard by the commission. In the interim, they are shut down and neighbors are satisfied with this outcome.

“I thank the License Commission for their diligence in continuing to monitor this establishment and address concerns with its operation,” expressed Mayor Richard J. Kos.

“We certainly would hate to lose a local business but there has been a lot of concern,” said Ward 8 City Councilor, Gary R. Labrie. “I hope they [the owners] take the time to regroup and create a new business plan for the establishment.”
