Mayor Kos has submitted a request for both an appropriation of $29,157.15 and the acceptance of the GameTime playground grant in the amount of $29,706.62 to the City Council to help fund the installation of a community playground at Fairview Veterans Memorial Elementary School for consideration at their November 5, 2015 meeting.
The total cost of the project, $79,157.15, was funded through a $20,000 commitment from the Parks Commission, $25,000 from the School Department, $29,157.15 from the City, and $29,706.62 from GameTime.
“I am pleased to see this multifaceted funding approach that has helped bring the necessary grant money to move this project forward,” said Mayor Kos. “Our elementary school students will have a fully functional playground. In addition, we are benefiting Camp Opee and the Fairview neighborhood’s recreational needs.”
The playground equipment will be ordered no later than November 13, 2015 and will ship by years end. It is expected to be installed this spring.
