As of this morning, May 13, 2019, the elevator located in the Chicopee City Hall Annex is closed for renovations and upgrades. Accessibility measures have been taken to ensure that residents can still conduct business in City Hall during the closure. Residents and visitors of City Hall who are unable to utilize the stairs are to report to the Human Resource Department on the first floor of City Hall Annex for further assistance.

The elevator is undergoing complete modernization to adhere to ADA and MAAB standards. The City received a Municipal Accessibility Grant from the Massachusetts Office on Disability for $250,000 to cover approximately 50% of the costs to replace the elevator.
