The City is pleased to announce it has received another energy efficiency rebate through its own municipal light plant, Chicopee Electric Light (CEL), for an energy savings project at the Medina Street Water Pollution Control facility. The Aeration System Upgrades Project will include replacement of impellers on two aerators and installation of variable frequency drives on the aerator electrical motors. It will also include installation of a dissolved oxygen probe in the aeration basin, and upgrades to automate the speed controls for the system. As this equipment operates 24 hours a day, every day of the year, the projected energy savings are approximately 295,650 kWh annually, a savings of $32,250 per year.
CEL offers rebates to its residential customers through the Home Energy Loss Prevention Service (HELPS) programs. Details on all programs can be viewed through links at http://www.celd.com/. Residential customers can receive up to $500 for installing qualifying energy efficient air conditioning through their Cool Homes Program. Additionally, purchases of qualifying new appliances may be eligible for rebates of up to $500 through the Energy Star Appliance Rebate Program. If residents install a qualifying smart Wi-Fi thermostat they may be eligible to receive up to a $125 rebate through their Smart Wi-Fi Thermostat Rebate Program. CEL also offers free home energy audits and up to $2,000 of rebates for installing qualifying measures through the Home Efficiency Incentive Program. Chicopee residents may also participate in the Home Market Value Performance (Home MVP) Pilot Program offered by the Massachusetts Department of Energy Resources (DOER). Details on the Home MVP Program can found at https://www.mass.gov/guides/home-mvp.
CEL offers rebates to its commercial and industrial customers through the Green Opportunities (GO) programs. Details on all programs can be viewed through links at http://www.celd.com/. Lighting and HVAC rebates are available through the GO Prescriptive Program. The prescriptive rebates require pre-approval before you purchase and install your measures to ensure that the measures you install qualify for rebates. Prescriptive rebates are capped at the lesser of 50% of project costs, or $25,000 while funds last. All commercial and industrial energy efficiency projects that do not qualify for the Prescriptive GO Program may participate in their Custom GO Program. Though the Custom Go Program CEL offers free energy audits and scoping reports that highlight project ideas with project cost and payback estimates, as well as rebates that are capped at the lesser of 30% of project costs or $25,000 while funds last. While not required, pre-approval is recommended for Custom GO Program projects to ensure the measures you install qualify for rebates. Zero percent on-bill financing of up to $25,000 is also available through the Custom Go Program. Commercial and industrial customers with over 1,500,000 kWh of annual consumption may qualify for a $50,000 cap on rebates. However, the $25,000 cap for on-bill financing applies to all commercial and industrial customers.
