Mayor Richard J. Kos has today appointed Daniel Stamborski as Temporary Fire Chief. The process for selecting a permanent Fire Chief will continue.

Temporary Chief Stamborski is a lifelong Chicopee resident and a second generation firefighter. He was originally appointed as a firefighter in 1997; he was promoted to Lieutenant in 2007 and Captain in 2010.

In addition to his work at the Chicopee Fire Department, Temporary Chief Stamborski volunteers with the American Cancer Society, and the Muscular Dystrophy Organization.

“I feel honored to have this leadership opportunity, and to lead an amazing group of men and women,” said Temporary Chief Stamborski.

“I congratulate Dan and look forward to working with him as we strive to enhance our Fire Department,” said Mayor Richard J. Kos.
