In January 2019, the Chicopee Cemetery Commission together with the Parks and Recreation Department announced changes to the Fairview Cemetery rules and regulations. In accordance with these new rules and regulations, the Parks and Recreation Department asks that any grave decorations to be retained please be removed by March 31, 2019. Spring cleanup will begin the week of April 1st and all remaining decorations will be removed and discarded by cemetery staff.

In an effort to improve safety of employees and those visiting the cemetery, the Chicopee Cemetery Commission approved the revisions to the rules and regulations of Fairview Cemetery. Artificial grave ornaments, artificial flowers, enclosures of any kind and new plantings in the ground are not allowed. Holiday pots and boxes will only be allowed during the Memorial Day and Holiday seasons.

In October 2018 all artificial grave ornaments were collected, and are available to be retrieved through the end of April at the Parks & Recreation Office at 687 Front Street.
