Last year the City allocated approximately $2,600,000 from City funds to be used towards road and sidewalk improvements throughout the City. This allocation included $1,300,000 of which was divided between the 13 City Councilors. Also available was approximately $2,920,000 in Chapter 90 funds from FY2018 and FY2019. The City anticipates approximately $1,320,000 in Chapter 90 funds for FY 2020.
The Engineering Department, with input from the City Council, has prepared a list of projects that covered each ward within the City. In addition to this project the Engineering Department conducted a review of City roads for a larger scale resurfacing project.
Based on preliminary estimates, the total cost for the projects listed is approximately $6,140,000 for 2019. Following review of available funding it is anticipated that an additional $600,000 will be required to complete the projects listed which includes some contingency.
The road and sidewalk improvements totaling over $6 million are a necessary investment in our City. My goal is to put in place additional funding so that further necessary road work can be completed,” said Mayor Richard J. Kos.
