[ARCHIVED] Chicopee Releases Requests for Proposals for Two City Owned Properties

Through its Department of Planning & Development, the City of Chicopee is seeking proposals from qualified development teams for the purchase and redevelopment of City-owned properties in Chicopee Center and Chicopee Falls.

Located in Chicopee Center, the former Racing Oil Property at 181 Center Street offers approximately 0.28 acres of vacant land. The property has been historically occupied by gasoline service stations since the 1920s. As a result, the City completed an environmental assessment and during the summer of 2018 finished environmental cleanup of the property. The City envisions the space to be utilized for commercial or mixed-use purposes aligned with the West End Brownfields Area-Wide Plan for the neighborhood.

The former Baskin Parcel (Lot #1) of the former Facemate Property is approximately 4.05 acres and located along the Chicopee River in Chicopee Falls. This property features a historic brick warehouse, which includes approximately 11,000 sq. ft. on the first floor and a loft level. The City has prioritized this structure as part of Phase III redevelopment of the RiverMills Vision Plan. With an open floor plan, the structure holds great potential for mixed-use development. The City encourages proposals that provide for creative reuse of this unique structure. The property is located adjacent to the Senior Center at RiverMills and the future Chicopee Assisted Living facility.
