[ARCHIVED] City Council Approves Funding for New Contracts for Three City Unions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHICOPEE – On Tuesday June 5, 2018 the Chicopee City Council approve nine (9) Mayors Orders all relating to the three (3) new contracts for laborers, administrators, and department heads.

The new contracts were previously ratified and these Mayors Orders fund them through the rest of the fiscal year (FY18). Each contract has three (3) different funding sources as the Water, and Sewer Departments must fund their own raises. The other City Employees raises are funded through the “general fund salary accounts”

For Laborers and Administrators the new contract is a three (3) year deal and a 2% increase per year.

Certain Department Heads will now receive additional compensation as their contracted hours have increased from 35 to 40 hours a week (Planning Director, Building Commissioner, City Engineer, Council on Aging Director, Library Director, and DPW Financial Administrator). The Department Heads have also received an additional amount of $650 added to their base rate for a reduction of three (3) sick days per year.

“I am pleased to move forward with these contracts as we address the needs of our employees within our City’s ability to pay.” Mayor Richard J. Kos said.
