FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Harmony House is a non profit 24/7 caring center for adults who are homeless, elders, veterans, and low/no income who are terminally ill with a life expectancy of 3 months or less. Made up of all volunteers the goal of Harmony House is to provide compassionate end of life care so no one dies alone, in pain, or on the streets without worry of cost. Each resident comes with their own hospice team to receive compassionate care in their final days.
Currently Harmony House is located at 663 Pendleton Avenue, which is a temporary location until the View Street location is renovated and operational.
Mayor Richard Kos toured the Harmony House’s proposed location in which they hope to renovate and move into at 66 View Street; The City of Chicopee has announced the award of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds of $7,000. This will enable the Harmony House Board of Directors to complete a feasibility study of the new property. This study will assess the current structure and provide a recommendation as to its suitability for its intended new use.
Ms. Willemain said, “Harmony House is very grateful to the City of Chicopee for their assistance in helping us continue our mission and move forward in the renovation. Our goal is to help as many people as possible during the most difficult time of their lives.”
