[ARCHIVED] Chicopee Welcomes Electrify America's First Ultra-Fast Charging Station

ElectrifyAmerica

On Tuesday May 2, 2018 Electrify America unveiled and opened its first state-of-the-art electric vehicle (EV) charging system in the Chicopee Marketplace (between Home Depot and Mattress Firm).

Chicopee is the first town in the United States to receive and operate one of these new charging stations which can charge a vehicle at speeds up to 20 miles per minute. This is the first ever certified cooled-cable 350 kilowatt (kW) charger in the United States, whereas the most commonly used chargers are only 50kW.

“The City of Chicopee is proud to be the home of the first Electrify America’s new charging stations. We look forward to its use as we continue to further green opportunities in the City” said Mayor Kos.

“We are determined to increase convenience for consumers who drive electric vehicles by placing our charging stations in locations where people already go and Chicopee Marketplace is a place where people shop, eat and spend time,” said Electrify America President and CEO Mark McNabb.” Brixmor Property Group, which owns Chicopee Marketplace, was our first retail partner and we could not be more thrilled to have one of their properties be our first installation.” Electrify America plans on opening hundreds of these stations nationwide.
