[ARCHIVED] Chicopee welcomes GoodWorks Coffee House to downtown

GoodWorks Coffee

Tuesday morning, Mayor Richard Kos welcomed a new downtown business – GoodWorks Coffee House located at 46 Center St.  GoodWorks Coffee House is a family owned coffee shop offering fair trade and locally sourced products. The business was provided financial assistance through the federal Community Development Block Grant Program.

“We had hoped that by dedicating our CDBG funds towards downtown economic development, the City would be able to assist businesses, big and small” stated Mayor Kos.

The Business Assistance program was launched in February of 2017 to support businesses with a goal of creating a vibrant downtown.  The Business Assistance program partners with the Chicopee Chamber of Commerce and the Massachusetts Small Business Development Network.

Kate Narvaez of Good Works stated “We chose the name GoodWorks Coffee House out of a passion to do good for the community. Having our background in Social Work and being the coffee lovers that we are, we knew that our beans and everything about the coffee house needed to reflect goodness, justice and come at a fair trade.”

The business is open weekdays from 7am-2pm as well as Sundays from 2:00-9:00 pm. On Thursday nights the coffee house is open from 6-9 as Good Works  opens their  doors to aspiring local artists such as musicians, poets, authors and painters where they can showcase their talents in the coffee house.
