[ARCHIVED] Chicopee announces 4th annual Downtown GetDown dates

Get Down 2018

The City of Chicopee is excited to announce the dates for the 4th Annual Downtown GetDown—the hugely successful block party that will again take over the streets of Chicopee Center during the Summer of 2018! This year’s event will also feature the 2nd Annual GetDown 5k race.

This celebration of local food, music, art, businesses, and community organizations will take place for two days on Friday, August 24th and Saturday, August 25th. Last year’s festivities brought 14,000 people to Chicopee Center. The objective of the GetDown is to highlight local businesses and talent, showcase Chicopee Center to visitors, and to throw an entertaining event for all guests. The City maintains its commitment to local residents, visitors, and businesses by again offering free admission to the public!

The Downtown GetDown Coordination Team expects a large proportion of last year’s vendors and attendees to return for 2018, in addition to new participants. After the 2017 GetDown, the Coordination Team received overwhelmingly positive reviews from participating guests and businesses alike. The Team anticipates a 2018 event that will grow in number of attendees and vendors. The Coordination Team consists of a combination of City staff and Fest-of-All members—a nonprofit entity that has hosted community events and block parties in Chicopee for years.

The 2nd Annual GetDown 5k will take place on Saturday, August 25th at 9:00am. This year’s event will build upon the success of the 2017 event and will seek to draw more participants from the Western Massachusetts region and beyond!

For more information, including sponsorship opportunities, vendor applications and pictures from last year, please visit the event website at www.chicopeegetdown.com. This website will be updated with a full, two-day schedule of entertainment and events as details become available. All businesses are welcome to apply, especially those promoting Chicopee and Western Massachusetts.
