The City of Chicopee Police Department has received a State 911 Department Training and EMD Regulatory Compliance Grant in the amount of $204,342.43. This grant will be used to train all officers in the department on emergency dispatch policies and protocols as set forth by the State 911 Department. Officers will be trained on the new Next Gen 911 system which is currently being implemented at the Chicopee Safety Complex. The grant will also provide for emergency dispatch continuing education for all fire fighters in the Fire Department.
The grant was presented by Mayor Richard Kos to the City Council who accepted the $204,342.43 grant at their November 21st meeting. The City Council also approved an appropriation request of $78,924.51 to cover payroll and training costs of the officers attending the courses, which will then be reimbursed by the State 911 grant.
