Mayor Richard Kos has announced the swearing in of two new Police Officers that took place in a ceremony at City Hall today that included family and friends of those selected.
The two new Police Officers, Brett Salamon and Aaron West, both of Chicopee, have completed their training at the Massachusetts State Police Municipal Academy in New Braintree and began working with the Chicopee Police Department Monday June 26th after graduating from the academy earlier this month.
Brett Salamon is a 2012 graduate of Westfield State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. He was previously employed at the Hampden County Sheriff’s Department.
Aaron West is a 2014 graduate of Westfield State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology. He also earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Columbia-Greene Community College in 2011. Previously, he worked as a counselor for the Northeast Center for Youth and Families.
“It is important to maintain a full complement of personnel in public safety,” said Mayor Kos. “I thank the City Council for their budgetary support in this continuing effort.”
The City of Chicopee has sworn in six new Police Officers this year and 18 new officers over the last three years.
