Mayor Richard Kos has announced the swearing in of four new Police Officers that took place in a ceremony at City Hall today that included family and friends of those selected.
The four new Police officers, Nickolas Stone, Victoria Lopez, Micky Dumais, and Matthew Lemieux, all of Chicopee, have completed their training at the Western Massachusetts Police Academy in Springfield and have begun working with the Chicopee Police Department after graduating earlier this May.
Nickolas Stone, a former United States Marine, is a 2015 graduate of Westfield State University and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Criminal Jusitice.
Victoria Lopez, currently enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves, is studying for her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Micky Dumais, previously employed as a Special Police Officer with the Chicopee Police Department, is a 2001 graduate of Chicopee Comprehensive High School.
Matthew Lemieux is a 2014 graduate of Westfield State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology.
“It is important to maintain a full complement of personnel in public safety,” said Mayor Kos. “I thank the City Council for their support in this effort.”
The new officers were sworn-in as Police Officer Recruits last year before beginning the Police academy in November.
