The City of Chicopee just placed a new monument in the Veterans Memorial Plaza on Front Street. The War on Terror Monument Dedication Ceremony was held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 where Chairman of the Committee Delfo Barabani Jr. stated "I just wish to begin by expressing my sympathies to the families of the men we honor with this monument; dedicated to those citizens of Chicopee, lost to the ongoing War on Terror. It is my hope that this monument, in recognition of their service and sacrifice, will forever be a reminder to the citizens of Chicopee, and all Americans, that the way of life we all enjoy is secured by those who are willing to stand and defend our country."
