Auditing Department

The Auditing Department is responsible for the verification of decentralized payroll, accounts payable, budgets and other accounting services for all the City's departments. 

The City Auditor is responsible for maintaining a complete and accurate accounting of the City's general ledger financial system as well as the preparation of the City's financial statements; in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws.

The Auditor is also involved in the development of City policies and procedures, as well as the evaluation of internal controls. An annual audit is performed with the assistance of an independent firm.
