Volunteers

Types of Volunteers
Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers include medical and public health professionals such as Physicians
  • Clergy members
  • Clerks
  • Dentists
  • Epidemiologists
  • Mental health specialists
  • Nurses
  • Pharmacists
  • Truck drivers
  • Veterinarians
How to Get Involved
Retired or part-time medical professionals with or without a current license are especially valuable. For each medical professional, our MRC needs at least 5 supporting team members who can direct traffic, drive trucks, act as interpreters, and register people.

There is a place in the MRC for all interested volunteers, including those who are already active in Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) and the American Red Cross. You need not be a U.S. citizen to volunteer. Individuals ages 16 - 18 years old need parental permission to join.

Volunteer Requirements
Recognizing that many professionals have limited time, volunteers can customize their level of activity by choosing their level of involvement. We ask only that all volunteers remain active by participating in at least 1 training, exercise, or response each year.

Certifications
Volunteers will receive free training and the opportunity to network with other local residents to serve and protect their communities. MRC volunteers must:
  • Fill out an application
  • Attend this introductory course explaining MRC Core Competencies
  • Pass a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) check
  • Take Incident Command System 100 and NIMS 700 trainings online at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website
